FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne will be torn down Friday.

That's so they can make room for a brand new building.

Thursday, the organization launched a community fundraising campaign for the project.

So far, the project has raised nearly $8.4 million dollars.

Kids will be able to enjoy the new space when it opens in the fall.

"It will be a more professional environment for them to work in, to learn in. It will be a safer environment for them. Frankly it will be more exhilarating for them. everyday after school, hundreds and hundreds of kids get off the school bus and come in our building," said Chuck Surack, capital campaign chairman.

The Boys and Girls Club will have two temporary locations during construction.
