Auburn police officer involved in crash

The driver of a Ford E 250 told police he was eastbound on SR 8 when he began to turn north. He did not see the Auburn officer traveling westbound. The officer struck the vehicle in the rear passenger side.

AUBURN, Ind. (WFFT)- An Auburn police officer sustained minor injuries after a crash involving another vehicle.

It happened Saturday around 8:45 p.m. in the area of I-69 and SR 8.

The driver of a Ford E 250 told police he was eastbound on SR 8 when he began to turn north. He did not see the Auburn officer traveling westbound. The officer struck the vehicle in the rear passenger side.

The officer said he wasn't able to stop in time.

The police cruiser was totaled, and the truck sustained about $10,000 in damage.
