AUBURN, Ind. (WFFT) — A man in Auburn was arrested Friday afternoon after police say he was driving drunk and was illegally carrying a gun that had a no visible serial number.
At around 4:40 p.m. Friday the Auburn Police Department responded to the area of Interstate 69 and State Road 8 regarding the report of a possible drunken driver.

Witnesses told officers that the driver had passed out or fallen asleep at the traffic light.
Shortly after, officers say they found a vehicle matching the description given, parked and unoccupied in the Wal Mart parking just down the road from the initial report.
Police say they say several alcoholic beverage containers and a handgun inside the vehicle.
Officers said when they saw the driver of the car walking in the Wal Mart parking lot toward his vehicle they detained him on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
APD said while searching the suspects car they discovered drugs, alcoholic beverages and a handgun that had an obliterated serial number.
They said the vehicle was impounded and 42-year-old Timothy W. Schieber of Pleasant Lake was arrested on several charges:
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Carrying a Handgun without a License
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Habitual Traffic Violator / Lifetime Suspension
- Obliterating Identification Marks on Handgun
