AUBURN, Ind. (WFFT) — One man is dead after an early Saturday morning crash in Auburn.
Officers from the Auburn Police Department responded to the 1600 Block of West Auburn Drive just after 5:30 a.m. Saturday on the report of a single-vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, officers say they found a GMC Pickup truck well off the south side of Auburn Drive just west of the Interstate 69 overpass.
Police say the truck had left the road while traveling east on Auburn Drive and become airborne where it hit a utility pole.
APD says the truck after the truck landed it hit a second utility pole.
Police say the driver of the truck, 64-year-old William A. Nelson of Auburn, was pinned in the vehicle and was ruled dead at the scene.
The Auburn Fire Department had to pull Nelson out of his truck.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
