ANGOLA, Ind. (WFFT) — Police arrested a man they say robbed a local restaurant after witnesses reportedly saw the man escape and go into a nearby home early Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday afternoon just after 12:45, officers with the Angola Police Department responded to a robbery at Wings Etc. Grill and Pub on 309 N Wayne St.
Police say entered the restaurant and requested money from the register.
Employees reportedly told police the suspect did not show a weapon but had his hand in his sweatshirt as if he were holding a gun.
When an employee was unable to open the register and investigators say they were forced to take the robbery suspect to the manager’s office and get money out of the safe.
After the suspect was given the money, witnesses reported to Angola police that he left the restaurant.
Witnesses told police they watched the suspect walk west from Wings Etc. and enter a home that could be seen from the front door of Wings Etc.
Officers say shortly after they were able to find the home the suspect went into, then get a search warrant.
Investigators say after they searched the house they found the money from the robbery and arrested 32-year-old Nicholas Daniel Jordan of Corunna on a preliminary felony robbery charge.
Jordan is being held at the Steuben County Jail pending an initial court hearing.
