FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Amazon announced Thursday morning it will open a Fort Wayne delivery station that will help speed up deliveries for Allen County customers.
The company says the delivery station will create "hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs, paying a minimum of $15 per hour and offering a variety of benefits packages from day one."

“We are proud to partner with Amazon as they expand their footprint in Indiana,” said Mayor Tom Henry. “The new Amazon Delivery Station will bring additional jobs, revenue and growth to our community. This is a great win for our local workforce, entrepreneurs, and our citizens.”
The delivery station will promote opportunity for job stabilization especially after many Hoosiers lost employment because of COVID-19.
"Being able to have an announcement like this today where new jobs are going to be coming into the community is a positive," said City of Fort Wayne spokesperson John Perlich.
Amazon is already preparing to move into the 150,000 sq. ft. shell building on Avionics Drive in Fort Wayne's Airport Business Center, a location and community Amazon considers to be on the rise.
The company says the station will open this year but did not give an opening date.
