- 2234 Carroll Road
- 8317 East Tillman Road
- 1701 Freeman Street
- 5703 Bluffton Road
Sand is now available for residents wanting to protect their personal property from flooding.
The fill-them-yourself bags and sand will be available anytime until further notice at the Highway Department’s two maintenance facilities.
The north facility is located at 2234 Carroll Road and you should enter through the south gate.
The south facility is located at 8317 East Tillman Road.
The County says sandbags are available on a first-come basis.
It is advised that you bring your own shovel.
The Fort Wayne Street Department has placed sand in the parking lot of the ASH Centre, 1701 Freeman St., and the Southwest Conservation Club at 5703 Bluffton Rd.
Bags are available, but residents need to bring a shovel to fill the bags they need.
On Friday morning, the City’s Flood Control staff placed the flood gate and closed Hartman Road at Foster Park, and delivered barricades in low-lying areas that often hold water during a rain event.
Residents are encouraged to check and clear storm drains and inlets in their neighborhood so that water can flow into the drain and away from the area.
On Thursday, Fort Wayne City Utilities placed five pumps in the following flood-prone locations:
- Old Mill Road and Fairfax Avenue
- Hartman Road
- Wheaton Court
- Fernwood Avenue
- Tillman Road near Calhoun Street
The City says the pumps are in place as a precaution, as of Saturday two pumps were turned on.
