FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Allen County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was killed while allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
The crash happened at Vance Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard, in Fort Wayne, Friday morning just after 4:10, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The Fort Wayne Police Department says they were investigating a domestic disturbance involving a violation of a protection order when the suspect’s blacked-out vehicle was allegedly seen near the protected person’s home.
Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect vehicle fled before crashing.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Joshua Michael Kirchhoff of Fort Wayne.
The coroner said Kirchhoff's cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries due to motor vehicle crash and his manner of death is an accident.
Kirchhoff is the 18th traffic fatality for Allen County in 2020.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
