FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Allen County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was found down in the road on the southside of Fort Wayne last week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, at about 11:20 p.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 600 block of Lewis Street regarding a man who was found down on the road.
FWPD Officers and paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man and said he was unresponsive.
The man was transported to a local hospital.
Authorities said the victim was shot and was determined to be in critical condition.
The man later died at the hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
The man was identified as 53-year-old James Jeffery Hines of Fort Wayne.
The cause of death was determined by the coroenr to be a gunshot wound and then the manner of death is homicide.
Hines is the 37th Homicide in Allen County for 2020.
This shooting remains under investigation by authorities in Allen County.
