FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Allen County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was found shot to death in the middle of the street late Thursday night.
Shortly after 11:15 p.m. officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to the 4600 block of Werling Drive for an unknown problem.
After arriving at that area, officers said they found a man in the street with apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers say they were told by dispatchers that several callers reported a man in the street on Werling Drive and reported hearing gunshots just before they saw him.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Elgin Markeith Davis from Fort Wayne.
The coroner determined his cause of death to be a gunshot wound and the manner of death is a homicide.
Davis is the 41st homicide in Allen County for 2020.
This shooting remains under investigation by authorities in Allen County.
