FORT WAYNE, Ind (WFFT) - Tristen Blair was arraigned Monday morning after being arrested for the murder of his 3 month old child last Thursday.
"With the charge, it is alleging a violation of the Ohio advised code 2903.02A it is what's referred to as a murder charge. It is an unclassified felony."
This was the scene in an empty courtroom Monday morning in Paulding County as Blair was read his charges via video conference.
On October 20th, first responders were called to the 200 block of South Cleveland Street in Grover Hill, Ohio on a report of an unresponsive 3 month old child.
The child was transported to an Indiana hospital where doctors discovered signs of child abuse. Five days later the child was pronounced dead. After investigating, police later arrested 19-year-old Tristen Blair.
One neighbor says the family that lives in the Cleveland Street home mostly kept to themselves, and other neighbors around them couldn't believe something like this happened.
"They never thought nothing would happen like that in a little town like this, but you never know," said Jim Scott, who lived nearby.
Some of those other neighbors WFFT Local News spoke with off camera say Blair has a past of causing trouble in the town, breaking into various homes and businesses in Grover Hill and stealing items.
Scott spoke for his neighbors, saying "It just blew us away. I mean I couldn't believe it living right here a hundred yards from him, you know?"
The judge imposed a $1,000,000 bond for Blair because she believes he poses a risk to the community.
Per the judges orders Blair is not allowed to have any contact with the mother of the child and he's due back in court on Thursday.
