GROVER HILL, Ohio (WFFT) - A three month old infant is dead after what the Paulding County Sheriff's Office calls a case of child abuse. On Friday, October 20th, Grover Hill EMS and the Police Department responded to a home at 202 South Cleveland Street when the child was found not breathing. The child, Zyathen Blair, 3 months, was transported to a local hospital and eventually brought to a hospital in Fort Wayne.
Medical staff contacted Paulding County Sheriff's Office indicating a possible case of child abuse. They informed deputies the child was in critical condition and not expected to survive. On Wednesday, October 25th, Zyathen Blair died.
An autopsy was conducted and it was determined the child had suffered injuries from "blunt force trauma". Interviews were conducted and Tristen A. Blair, 19, of Grover Hill, Ohio was arrested and charged with a preliminary charge of murder.
Paulding County Sheriff Jason K. Landers said, "This in an incredibly bad situation for the family of young Zyathen. He was a defenseless infant and there's no excuse for this. I give credit to my staff working the case, as well as the family that cooperated with the investigation. I cannot being to imagine their pain."
Tristen A. Blair will be arraigned in Paulding County Count on Monday, October 30th.
