Well we're now over halfway through the month of October , and that means basketball is almost here. In fact the girls season officially kicked off Monday.

Of course, all eyes are going to be on Homestead. The Spartans are coming off a Class 4A state title, but lose four of their starting five, including Miss Basketball Karissa McLaughlin.

And while coach Rod Parker and the team knows it's not easy to replace the talent they lose from last year, they say it's time for new kids to step up.
