FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Another festival announced its cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic Wednesday.
The Fort Wayne Pride Board of Directors said they decided to cancel the Pride 2020 stating "is in the best interest of our LGBTQ community and the greater Fort Wayne area."
"Although we had hoped to postpone to September, there are too many uncertainties about the future," the group said in a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon. "Because of all of the work required for the festival, we cannot extend our wait any longer. We understand how important Pride is for our community and have not taken this decision lightly. 2020 has brought quite a bit of challenges and changes in our lives."
Fort Wayne Pride officials say they will still work on producing smaller, safe events as much as they can.
The 23rd festival will be held next year from July 23-24, 2021 at Headwaters Park.
