FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Late fall and winter are times you typically expect it to be cloudy.
That's just how it goes here in Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. However, the period surrounding the 2019 Thanksgiving Holiday has been especially cloudy.
According to Weather Spark, Fort Wayne Airport weather station reports mostly cloudy or cloudy skies from about 55 to 65% of the time. (Important to note, WeatherSpark gets their data from NOAA's Global Modeling and Assimilation Office).
The raw data from the airport may look like a jumbled mess (see below), but it tells a tale when you look at several days in a row.
Looking at ALL of these from Nov. 26 at 9:54 a.m. to Dec. 2 at 7:54 p.m., Fort Wayne recorded mostly cloudy and cloudy skies 97% of the time (over 149 hours).
3% of the time, we had partly sunny skies or better (just under 5 hours).
Before this time, we saw mostly clear skies for several hours prior.
This is exceptionally cloudy for this time of year.
We've got a few more days to deal with more cloud cover than not, but sunshine returns.
