FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A man on Fort Wayne's south side was killed in a Monday afternoon shooting, according to Fort Wayne police officers.
"I just heard the shootings and seen the guy running," a neighbor said.
Dispatchers initially said one person was shot and left in life-threatening condition shortly before 2 p.m. on the 3000 block of Euclid Ave.
Police say when they arrived to Euclid Avenue they were redirected to another location where they found a man who was in the street in the 3000 block of Central Drive.
As of 2:55 p.m. Fort Wayne police at the scene told FOX 55 the victim died.
Detectives are investigating several areas around the location of the shooting.
Sgt. Sofia Rosales-Scatena said police were told a vehicle with two people inside sped away from the area shortly after the shooting.
"We have several scenes that we are working that we think may be involved according to people that have called in. We're just trying to piece together information. May or may not be involved at this point. We just don't know. We're working everything so we don't miss anything," she explained.
There is also another person that was shot and their condition is unknown at this time.
FWPD is still searching for suspects and interviewing any potential witnesses.
