Netflix is now worth more than $100 billion, joining a prestigious club of companies with a market value of 12 digits.

Shares of Netflix surged 10% Tuesday to a new record after the company reported a bigger-than-expected gain in subscribers and a bullish outlook for the first quarter. Netflix's market value ballooned to $110 billion as a result.

That makes Netflix worth slightly more than Dow components Goldman Sachs, Caterpillar and United Technologies and a tad below the market value of Nike.

Netflix is now one of 59 companies in the S&P 500 worth at least $100 billion, according to data from FactSet.

Netflix is also widening the gap between it and other big Hollywood content companies -- many of which it still partners with for content.

It is worth more than CBS, Viacom, Sony, 21st Century Fox and CNN owner Time Warner.

Still, Netflix has a way to go before it catches up to the media sector's largest companies.

Disney is worth $166.5 billion and will get bigger if its plans to buy the studio assets of Fox are approved. NBC Universal owner Comcast has a market cap of just under $200 billion.

Then there are some of the newer contenders in the media landscape.

AT&T, which is looking to buy Time Warner, is worth nearly $230 billion. The deal's fate is uncertain though, since the Department of Justice has sued to block it.

Ma Bell's telecom rival Verizon is stepping up its efforts in the content world too, purchasing AOL and much of the assets of Yahoo and lumping them together in a new subsidiary dubbed Oath. Verizon's market value is a little more than $215 billion.

Netflix -- as well as all the other major media companies -- are also considerably smaller than four tech titans that have been investing more in the world of content lately: Apple, Google owner Alphabet, Amazon and Facebook.

But none of that diminishes Netflix's "crowning" achievement. (Can't wait for season 3 of "The Crown!") Wall Street is predicting even bigger gains ahead too. More than two dozen analysts upgraded their price target on Netflix's stock Tuesday morning.

The highest price target for Netflix is now $303 a share, up another 20% from current levels.

At that price, Netflix would be worth $131 billion, which would vault it ahead of UPS, Texas Instruments and Union Pacific and put it within striking distance of passing struggling GE.

Time to cue up that popular mind blown GIF of "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown!
