FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - If you have a sweet tooth or enjoy a unique donut, you're in luck. There's a new business in Fort Wayne that's hoping to change the donut scene.
Meet Jada Carpenter and Tiffany Brown. They're the owners of Fort Wayne's newest place to get your donut fix. The pair started Desert Donuts three months ago after they saw a void here in the summit city.
"There's places like Voodoo Donuts, and then I was vacationing out to the east coast and there's Duck Donuts and I was looking at them and saw all these awesome concepts and just super fun options and I was just thinking, you know, Fort Wayne has nothing like this," said Carpenter.
The pair call their creations, Designer Donuts. That's because of all the different flavors and decorations they do making their product unique.
"I feel like the actual donut itself isn't as sweet and then when you add the toppings, that's when it's like perfect I guess," said Brown.
"We add a lot of funk and flair and personality," added Carpenter. "I mean there's edible glitter and metallic sprinkles. I mean there's like luster dust and metallic spray paint that you can use. So I mean they're designer, they're fun."
Desert Donuts doesn't have a physical location just yet. The two make them out of a private kitchen to fill their orders. Customers make those orders online via social media or email. And just because they don't have a store yet doesn't mean that's going to stop their creativity.
"When people do email us about custom orders I feel like that pushes our creativity level. because if they want like a unicorn theme, we can like do unicorn times a million you know, not just your regular unicorn donut," said Brown.
