FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — He's gone from raising swine to helping you look fine with custom-designed shirts and apparel.
Chad Bushee started his custom print and embroidery shop 18 Threads nearly five years ago in Bluffton.
Now, he's moved it to Fort Wayne and it's more than just putting a logo on a tee shirt.
WFFT's Andrew Logsdon shows us in this week's Locally Made Monday.
"We can do one shirt up to a thousand, whatever you want. Yea, we'll fit it in there," founder Chad Bushee says.
Another busy day at 18 Threads- Fort Wayne's new custom apparel and print shop.
Today, they're making custom-designed hats.
"You can come in with an idea, whether you have a logo, you don't know what it is, we'll talk you through the whole thing... And we'll usually turn it around in seven to ten business days, and you're on your way," Bushee says.
Bushee and his staff moved Eighteen Threads from Bluffton to southwest Fort Wayne several months ago.
"Really, the main thing that's different here is that we're just a total custom apparel shop. We want you to be able to come in here and go over every bit of your order with you, from a design standpoint, and also putting it on some apparel that you're going to want to wear over and over, rather than just the basic stuff that's kind of associated with being a print shop," Bushee says.
Besides the custom embroidery, they'll help you create a design, and print it onto nearly any type of clothing.
"Anything apparel wise. We'll do tee shirts, hats, you know, sweatpants, coats, whatever it may be, apparel wise. We also can do some promotional-type items. You know, the coffee mugs, the pens, and all of that stuff too, we can do as well. But everything in-house is all apparel," Bushee says.
Bushee spent years working on hog farms.
Today, his focus is on making custom-designed clothing that doesn't stink.
"I've always liked design and art, and I thought it would be pretty neat to do some of those things on apparel as well. And, I didn't want to smell like a pig anymore," Bushee says.
