Start Something Big: Benefits of Yoga

This week on Start Something Big, Bigs and Littles learn the benefits of yoga.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)-This week on Start Something Big, Bigs and Littles learn the benefits of yoga. Volunteer Yoga Instructor Whitney Caudill teaches the pair how to cope with everyday stress.

"The hope is that everybody walks away with the ability to calm themselves, or at least learn how to be present and mindful of their daily lives when they're away from Big Brothers Big Sisters."

The class is also good for other things.

"You get to spend time together and do stuff as friends," said Little Isabel Gabriel.

Kamden says she thinks the yoga class is a great way to bond with her big sister.

"Usually we'll go out and go to the mall or we'll go someplace and talk but it's nice to just hang out," said Little Kamden Shields.

Other Littles in the program say they like the bonding experience, and trying new activities together.

"I haven't been able to do anything, so it's a good experience," said Little Alexa Busking.

"It feels like you're connecting with her, or him, and you're having fun with them, " said Little

"It's really fun, we have more fun than we thought we'd be having," said Little Tyneeuh Ward.

The program went so well, that one visitor decided she wants to join Big Brother's Big Sisters.

"I called today to get one. They said they're going to call my mom to meet the big sister and stuff," said Audriana Soil.
