BERNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- A Berne 5-year-old is battling cancer and chasing his dream.
Brooks Weiland’s family is working with the organization Campaign One at a Time to raise money to fulfill his biggest wish.
Brooks loves superheroes and all kinds of cars, but while he should be at home running around in his superhero cape all day, he's in hospice.
Brooks was diagnosed with a Stage four Diffuse Anaplastic Wilm's Tumor last year.
Even though his family has taken him off treatment, they say he still has a good attitude and a smile on his face.
However, one thing they want to do to put an even bigger smile on his face is fulfill his dream of going to the American Dream Mall for a shopping spree.
So Nick Ordonez with Campaign One at a Time is trying to help make it happen.
"He and his mom both want to go to that mall and spend some time together and just get whatever they can get and just not worry about all of the different things that they're worried about right now," Ordonez said.
His mom said in a statement that she wants him to have one day to do fun, "normal kid" things, and a trip to the American Dream Mall would be perfect.
They are trying to raise a total of $5,000 for the trip.
