FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - YWCA Northeast Indiana received a $50,000 grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation in support of the YWCA's Hope & Harriet program.  Hope & Harriet is an addiction recovery program, which addresses the varying needs of women who are seeking, sustaining, and living in recovery.

It is one of a few recovery programs that allow residents to have their children stay with them.  The program also provides outpatient support and aftercare.

In a YWCA press release, Dr. Kimberly Roop, Indiana's Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's Medicaid President noted, "This evidence-based addiction recovery program integrates high-quality, person-centered care and aligns with Anthem’s commitment to promote equity in mental health, particularly for people with substance use disorders."

Roop went on to say, "Addressing the array of care and service options from prevention and screening to early intervention and treatment for mental health and substance use disorder leads to higher quality of care and advancing health equity.”

The grant will give additional financial support to extend the patient's length of stay as needed to enable women in the program to take the time they need for their recovery.
