There are places to shop for specialized children's clothing around the region, but kids clothes can be expensive!
A Fort Wayne designer is trying to fix that with her line of clothes and store Kool Kids Klothing Boutique.
WFFT's Andrew Logsdon shows us what makes it different in this week's Locally Made Monday.
Like a lot of boutiques, this store is full of kids clothes.
But, it's a little bit different.
"Our prices are different. All of our outfits are two to six piece outfits, and they are all under thirty dollars," says owner and designer Shandreka Gray.
It's called Kool Kids Klothing Boutique, and it opened this past April on Bluffton Road.
"Right now, we've started with gently used clothing, and we will transition from the gently used clothes to, I design a kids line called Kool Kids Apparel, and we will transition to Kool Kids Apparel hopefully by the fall or the beginning of 2018. But we will still feature gently used clothing as well," Gray says.
And for sizes, Kool Kids has you, and them, covered.
"Right now with the gently used, we have newborn up to size fourteen in big kids and a few women's and men's items. And then when we transition to the Kool Kids Apparel line, the sizes will be newborn to size seven. I've been getting a lot of requests, so we might go up to bigger," Gray says.
Gray says Kool Kids Klothing is a needed addition to the Summit City.
"I felt like you could find bigger kids clothes everywhere, and sometimes it's harder to find clothes for the smaller kids, so I wanted to offer a place for smaller kids for you to shop... And, I think that this size of town needs a Kool Kids over here, because some people do not want to go to another children's retail place that's farther on the north side of town," Gray says.
Gray plans to open up online sales, along side her women's clothing line Vonshae's Boutique, and expand retail space.
"I'm very excited and I feel like the south side of town needs me," Gray says.
