City fines Red River Waste Solutions for missed collections

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The city of Fort Wayne fined Red River Waste Solutions for failure to provide expected services.

Red River started collecting residential trash in Fort Wayne January 2.

Since then, hundreds of people have complained about missed pick-ups.

Now, Red River owes the city $65,000 in fines, $15,000 for April and $50,000 for May, based on criteria outlined in the contract.

Red River Vice President of Business Development, Steve Smith, said the company has addressed many issues in six months.

Smith said they have changed the management team in Fort Wayne, hired more drivers, and offer more incentives.

Trash collection can be expected on your scheduled day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you trash is missed, call 3-1-1.

Red River will outline specific changes to city council Tuesday, June 19.
