FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- In case you missed it, last week we did a story on 3 year- old Henry Whitacre.
His family contacted us about getting volunteers to help out with their fundraising activities to raise money to get henry a life saving kidney transplant.
After we aired that story, one woman by the name of Michelle Lewis who currently lives in Meadowview, Virginia was so moved by Henry's story on our website she surpassed giving money and decided to offer a kidney to save him instead.
We're not sure if she is a match, but she tells us that she has been in contact with Kelly Coffey who is the Living Donor Coordinator for Indiana University Health.
Lewis said right now she is one of five waiting to see if she is a match on the list.
Being a grandmother herself, she said she had to do something.
"I have a 3 year-old grandson, and I couldn't imagine what these people are going through. It really touched my heart when she would say 'raise money to get a kidney', and if I could help in anyway, I would do it,"Lewis said.
We will be keeping up with Henry Whitacres journey. Stay with us for updates.
